1st Sgt (retired) George Allen Sr, 49, of 9431 Lee Road 240, Phenix City, AL, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Martin Army Hospital at Fort Benning, GA. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Infantry Center Chapel. Dr Alphonso Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. He was born January 26, 1958 in Yzaoo City, MS, son of George and Margretere Cool Allen. He was 6th of 9 children. He was a 1976 graduate of Yazoo High School and joined the US Army in 1977. He retired with 24 years nd 5 months. He was employed at ITT as a mechanic and then was a Maintence Supervisor at Fort Benning. He joined True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Yazoo and later joined New Bride Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; 2 daughters, Jessica Nicok Allen and Jermanda LaShay (Augustus) Francis of Alabama; 2 sons, Jeremy Danyell Allen of New York and George Allen Jr of Alabama; 2 grandchildren, Tre Hill and Caleigha Perry of Phenix City, AL; a mother in law, Magnolia Smit of Yazoo City; 2 sisters, Ida Loft, Versie Lee Murphy of Yazoo City; 5 brothers, J W (Ida) Cook of Chicago, IL, William Lee Allen and Eugene Allen, both of Yazoo City, James Earl (Lena) Allen of Korea and Bobby Joe (Clarice) Allen of Atlanta, GA. |

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2007 at St Paul A.M.E. Church. Reverend James A Alexander Sr will officiate. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery. She was born August 5, 1947 in Waynesboro, GA, daughter of Willie and Alice Brown Heath of Augusta, GA. She retired with 31 years service as Budget Analysist with Directorate of Resource Management at Fort Benning. She was a member of St Paul A.M.E. Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend John Leroy Alston and a b rother, Willie Robert Heath. Survivors include her son, Thomas Alston of Columbus; a brother, Ulysses Brown of Bronx, NY; sisters, Mary Wolfe, Iverrie Brown, Gwen Brown of Augusta, Carolyn Jackson, Brenda Brown of COlumbus and Beverly (Anthony) Jackson of Fayetteville, NC; 4 grandchildren, mother in law, Ella Alston of St Helena Island, SC. |

He was born February 28, 1941 in Helena, AR, son of Willie and Versie Lee Williams Anderson. On September 6, 1966 he and Ki Nam were married. He served as a SSGT in the US Army in Vietnam. He was born January 24, 1952 in Brewton, AL, son of Herman and Annie Bell Gant Askew, Sr.. He retired from the US Army with twenty-one years service and was employed as a service assistant for AAFES at Fort Benning and was a member of South Columbus United Methodist Church.
