Funeral services for Mrs. Tillie Mathis of Plains, GA, who died September 8 in Montezuma, GA, will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church in Plains, with Reverend Hosie Waters officiating with burial in the church cemetery. She was born May 22, 1903 in Sumter County, GA, daughter of Elijah and Mary Jane Floyd. She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church and was the widow of Eddie Mathis. Survivors include two sons, Ernest mathis and Henry Mathis of Miami, FL; two daughters, Mrs. Ernestine Davis of Detroit and Mrs. Betty Hanna of Miami; stepdaughter, Mrs. Fleeola Morgan of Plains; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.

He was born November 25, 1941 in Columbus, son of Augusta nd Carrie Lee Jones Mathis. He worked at Golden Foundry as a molder and was a US Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Mathis Bass and a brother, Tommie Mathis. Survivors include his wife, Learmie Foster Mathis; daughters, Melina (Daniel) Dawson of Columbus, Marion (Donnie) Dawson of Midland, GA, Learmie (James) Shawnease; 7 grandchildren.
