Reverend R A Hall, formerly pastor of St James A.M.E. Church in Columbus, GA, died at his residence in Columbus yesterday morning, shortly before 2 o'clock. His death resulted from a very severe attack of pneumonia. Elder Hall was one of the best and most widely known preachers in the South and the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was sixty-six years of age nd had been in the ministry, working among his people for forty-five years. During this long period of years, he had served some very prominent charges, among them was the leading colored Methodist churches of Baltimore and Washington City. Several years ago, Elder Hall was stationed here as presiding elder of the Columbus District. Last year he was returned here as pastor of St James Church. The last annual conferene, which met here about two weeks ago, transferred him to the Alabama conference. A day or two after the adjournment of the conference, he was stricken with pneumonia and never left his bed. Elder Hall was a very polite, well educated Negro, who has done much good among his people. His funeral will occur from St James Church this afternoon at 3 o'clock. The body will remain in the church tonight and tomorrow morning, will be taken to Atlanta for interment. Submitted by great, great granddaughter, Janice D Laster. |

Their daughter Christy Lashawn Hall preceded her in death. Se was employed as a paraprofessional for 17 years in the classroom of Faith Whitaker, Dooly County Board of Education. She was a member of St Paul A.M.E. Church.
