Viola Upshaw of 380 Hook Road, Pittsview, AL, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at the Medical Center in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Antioch Baptist Church in Pittsview with Reverend Fletcher Pugh officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was born September 8, 1928 in Russell County, AL, daughter of Wiley and Georgia Lias and the widow of Charlie Upshaw. Preceding her in death were 7 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include 2 sons, John L Upshaw of Pittsview, AL and Charles Upshaw of Columbus, GA; 5 daughters, Rosie Marion of Hurtsboro, AL, Lucille Mitchell of Clearwater, FL; Izola (Albert) Upshaw of Pittsview, AL, Betty Rutherford of Columbus, GA; Barbara Upshaw of Pittsview, AL; 3 sisters, Velma McLendon of Columbus, GA, Ella M Brown of Lima, OH and Dorothy Jones of Fort Myers, Fl; 47 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Mrs Willie Mae Upshaw of 4242 St Mary’s Estate Apartment 101, Columbus, GA, died June 30, 2004 at the Medical Center in Columbus. Funeral services will be held at noon, Tuesday, July 7, 2004 at Mt Missouri Baptist Church in Rutherford, AL. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Reverend David Dawson officiating. She was born January 31, 1938 in Russell County, AL, daughter of Moses and Fannie Upshaw and was a member of Mt Missouri Baptist Church and worked at Opelika Manufacturing Company. Survivors include 3 sons, Ceasar (Melody) Upshaw, Samuel (Enid) Upshaw and Frederick Upshaw of Columbus, GA; 3 daughters, Gloria Averett of Columbus, GA, Dannett Upshaw of Fort Myers, FL and Rachel (Horace) Campbell of Cocoa, FL; 3 brothers, Arthur Upshaw of New York, Henry Upshaw of Cocoa, FL and Lewis Upshaw of New Jersey; 7 sisters, Essie Reid of Akron, OH, Geraldine Gibbs and Bessie Upshaw of Jamaica, Queens, NY, and Lillie Peterson and Gertha Upshaw of Fort Myers, FL; Louise Peterson of Petersburg, FL and Mozell Upshaw of Hurtsboro, AL; a grandchild and six great grandchildren.

Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Pittsview. She was born June 10, 1927 in Russell County, AL, daughter of the late Phyllis Upshaw and Wilbur Upshaw and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. survivors include 4 daughters, Phyllis (Gerald) Johnson of Birmingham, AL, Dianne (Clarence) Cooper of Fairburn, GA, Burnia (Lee) Guise of Bronx, NY, Yvonne (James) Williams of Montgomery, AL; 5 sons, Reverend J D Upshaw and William (Eugenia) Upshaw of Pittsview, Herman (Evelyn) Upshaw of Lithonia, GA, Anthony Upshaw of Phenix City and Jerome Upshaw of Montgomery, AL; 21 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.
