He was a US Army veteran and a member of Kingdom Hall. He retired from Southern Pines Textile. Survivors include his wife, Sarah L Eiland; a daughter, Bernice (Roger) Baldwin of Columbus, GA; a son, King N Eiland Jr of Montgomery, AL; 5 sisters, Carrie Fuller and Myrtiss Dawson of Salem, AL, Lelia Williams of Columbus, GA, Ethel Robinson of Phenix City, AL and Louvenia Davis of Birmingham, AL; a brother, Joe (Linda) Eiland of Salem, AL; 2 grandchildren, Bryant Dixon, Fort Mitchell, AL and Aisa Eiland of Montgomery, AL; a nephew, Jackie (Sylvia) Eiland of Phenix City, AL. |

Mrs. Lizzie Eiland of 5 Mercer Lane, Salem, AL, died Friday, October 7, 2005 at Parkwood Health Facility. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 12 at Shady Grove C.M.E. Church in Salem with burial in Mercer Cemetery in Salem. She was born June 4, 1911 in Lee County, daughter of Fannie Huguley and was retired from Cobb Memorial Hospital and a member of Shady Grove C.M.E. Church in Salem. Surviving are three sons, Marcus (Willene) Huguley of Columbus, Roy (Katie) Eiland of Salem, and Mitchell (Louise) Eiland of Phenix City; a daughter, Dorothy (Willie) Rushin of Phenix City; three sisters, Fannie Phillips, Rosie Eiland and Annie Mae Hodge, of Salem; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and eighteen great, great grandchildren. |

Staff Sgt Gregory L "Lil Sarge" Elam, 39, of 4510 Gatewood Avenue, Columbus, GA, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 in Kandabar, Afghanistan. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Shiloh, GA. Reverend Aaron Williams Jr will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was born December 1, 1968 in Fort Bragg, NC, son of Lillie S and the late James W Elam. He was a 1986 graduate of Spencer High School and in January 2003 became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist hurch. He joined the US Army in October 1986 and was assigned to the 54th Quartermaster Companyt, 49th Master Group, 101 Airborn (Air Assault) Divison located at Fort Lee, VA. He was preceded in deathby his son, Damion A Elam on May 6, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Evangelist Angela M Elam of Columbus; 3 daughters, Jamieliah Elam and Imani Elam both of the home, Alish D Elam in Kokomo, IN; 2 sisters, Debra A Elam of Lexington, SC and Lenora K (Charlie) Walton of Cusseta, GA; a brother, Benjamin E Elam of Columbis, SC; a niece, Micelle D Walton; nephew, Timothy R Walton of Cusseta; brother in law, Christopher Copeland of Columbus. |
