Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Menefee of Columbus and a son, Robert Lee Watkins Jr of New York, NY; a sister, Thelma Sears (McKinney) Wardlaw of Dover, DE; a brother, Solomon E Sears of Atlanta and a sister in law, Creva Sears of Columbus.

He retired from CDC in Atlanta, and is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Jerelene Willis Talley; two daughters, Ursula White and Charlette (Thomas) Sylvester; three grandchildren, Arielle D White, John R and Ashley Sylvester and an adopted son, Devin Talley; two brothers, Arthur Curtis (Edity) Talley, Jr., and Alfred (Hattie) Talley; three sisters, Alice J Lytes and Arnez Cherry and Alfreta (William) Gibson.
