He was born August 11, 1915 in Chattahoochee County, son of Lonzia Walker and retired from the Columbus Housing Authority. He was a US Army veteran of WW II and a member of Holsey Monumental C.M.E. Church. Surviving is his wife, Hilda, a son, Darryl Walker of Columbus; three stepdaughters, Ossie Bell Flowers of Columbus, Mary Ethel Flowers and Ann Flowers of Hartford, CT; a sister, Flora Lakes of Columbus and twelve grandchildren.

A DeSoto man, Mr. Frank Walker, 30, died Thursday night while undergoing emergency surgery at Sumter Regional Hospital having earlier suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach, local authorities said. The shooting incident occurred in fornt of Thad Wilkerson’s Store in DeSoto about 11 p.m. and Walker was rushed to the hospital immediately where he underwent emergency surgery and died on the operating table according to Larry Hancock, Sumter County coroner. Funeral services for Frank walker were held today at 4 p.m. at Mt Able Baptist Church in DeSoto with Reverend Bobby Lee Robinson officiating with burial in Saddler cemetery. Surviving is his mother, Mrs. Pearlie Walker of DeSoto; two children, Bruce Tyrone Walker and Genee C Walker of Far Rockaway, NY; six sisters, Mrs. Louise Stafford, Mrs. Marie Deriso, Mrs. Betty Jean Parter, Ms Gloria Walker of DeSoto, Mrs. Corrine Thomas of Smithville and Ms Mattie Walker of Far Rockaway; four brothers, George Walker of DeSoto, Willie Pace of Leslie, Buck Walker and Edward Walker of Far Rockaway; an aunt, Mrs. Palace Cutts of Smithville.
