Mr. Roy Wade died Thursday, November 14, 1996 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA. He was born February 2, 1911 in Floyd County and was a member of Mt Sinai C.M.E. Church and became a member of Holsey –Sinai C.M.E. Church. He was a veteran of WW II. In 1937 he and Tommie Lou Johnson were married and 8 children were born (six of whom preceded him in death: Charles, Carrie mae, Herbert, Melvin, Cornelious and John Henry). Surviving is a daughter, Cornelia (Vernon) Cutts of Rome; a son, Samuel L Wade of Ellaville; two daughters in law, Ms eula Wade Cody of Macon and Mrs. Juanita wade of Ellaville; two sisters in law, Ms Mary Cox of Dalton and Mrs. Margaret Hodge of Jamaica, Long Island, NY; a brother in law, Talmadge Johnson of McDonough; four grandchildren, Herbert Wade, Jr., Lisa Wade, Kathy Cutts and Vincent Cutts; four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 18 at 2 p.m. at Holsey-Sinai C.M.E. Church in Rome with burial in Eastview cemetery. |

He was a Agriculture teacher in Schley County and Tri-County High schools 26 ½ years, teacher of Industrial Arts at Marshall Jr. High School in Columbus for a year; Superintendent of Schley County Schools for a year and Princiapl at Schley County Elementary for ½ year; Principal at Taylor County Elementary five years and retired in 1955. He and Juanita Green were married April 11, 1969 in Ellaville and he was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. Surviving is his wife of thirty-five years; a sister, Cornelia (Vernon) Cutts of Rome, GA; two sisters in law; Dolly (Leroy) Hodge and Mary Johnson of Atlanta; uncle, Talmadge Johnson of Decatur; four brothers in law, John (Catherine) Sellers of Baltimore, William (Leila) Green, Ponce DeLeon (Shirley) Green of Bayonne, NJ and James Sellers of Ellaville. |

She was born January 21, 1962 in Macon County, GA, daughter of the late Freddy Lee Raines and Willie Faye Duncan Raines. Two siblings preceded her in death, Robert Nathan Raines and Emma Jo Cook. She was a member of Travelers Home Baptist Church and was a 1980 graduate of Macon County High School in Montezuma. In 1984 she graduated from South Georgia Technical College with an LPN degree. In 1993 she earned a RN degree from Georgia Southwestern University. She retired with 20 years service from Sumter Regional Hospital. Survivors include her husband, James Evans Walker Sr of Americus; children, Jameah Sharney Walker and James Evans Walker Jr, both of Americus; her mother of Ideal; Siblings: Rosa Mae (John Thomas) Jones of Roberta, Annie Joe Phillips of Americus, Ileene Raines and Elouise Raines of Ideal; father in law and mother in law, James and Rena Walker of Americus. |
